Wannabe Wasson

My first memory of Erin Wasson is reading something that a fashion editor said about her sizzling down the Chloé catwalk in a pair of barely there denim hotpants, back in the early days of Phoebe Philo.

Stylist and muse for the ultimate Alexander Wang, the above portraits give us a taste of her highly anticipated upcoming jewelery line, Low Luv.

California Dreaming

I'm off to California tomorrow with my Mom and needless to say I'm far too excited, more than likely owing to the fact that the current weather situation in Dublin is far from inspiring.

The constant gale-force wind and rain showers aren't exactly ideal for my new bangs. So along with the prospect of a break from frizz-free hair, I am of course restless thinking about all the shopping that is to be done.

Other than the hope of discovering lots of treasures in the many LA boutiques and San Diego vintage hideouts, I already have my mind on a few necessities.

Even though the above Elizabeth and James dress is from seasons past, it is still available and I am still obsessed with it. I would love to get my hands on it for my outfit to this year's Trinity Ball, the highlight of many a Dublin student's social calendar.

Even though the mere mention of Abercrombie & Fitch sends shivers down my spine, I must admit that I have a current fixation, be it a strange one, with plaid boy shorts for upcoming Summer adventures. I might just have to brave the store's deafening party music and employee's envy-inducing figures in order to purchase the above pair.

I only discovered Forever 21 on a trip to New York last Easter and it resulted in a long-distance love affair. Two of my favorite dresses were purchased in the holy grail of American high street and I am hoping to add the above pumps, amongst many other items, to my current collection.

Not forgetting the given that I will probably spend a large chunk of my time stocking up on all the American Apparel basics and classics that we Irish are so unfortunately deprived of.

Mad For Missoni

There are few times when I am struck by the smaller details featured on the runway and Missoni wouldn't normally appear on my list of most covetable accessories.

Yet the dandy shoe boots and structured clutches, both in an array of earthy and jewel color tones, featured in their most recent AW08 collection, have certainly caught my eye.

Whereas only moments ago I was dreaming of Summer nights spent dancing on the beach in the bare minimum of a floaty mini dress and veil of shimmer body lotion, after spotting the above accessories I'm already looking forward to next Autumn.

I probably won't be jumping into piles of golden leaves in my favored choice of footwear, nor stuff my spare change and stash of apple drops into the supple leather of the semi-precious stone encrusted Missoni clutches, but I have more than enough time to find suitable replacements in order to do so.

Currently Coveting

Regardless of measuring in at 5"11, I often find myself browsing the endless rows of stilettos in The Shoe Room at Brown Thomas or the fabulous range of ultra luxe sandals that take pride of place in any Topshop footwear range.

Burberry

I regularly have to remind myself that no matter how much I lust after yet another pair of gravity defying bondage style platforms, adding an extra six or so inches to my already clumsy frame wouldn't be an ideal party look.

Topshop

How I long to pop on a clumpy pair of Miu Miu's finest sculpture-like stacked heels and stomp around town in a mismatched minidress and my trusty black Wolfords. There's just something about a sturdy, towering heel that not only elevates your physique, but also your spirits.

Miu Miu

For the moment I'll make do with comfy pumps and ballet slippers, although I look forward to the day that I give up worrying about towering over peers and feed my secret footwear fantasy.

Feelings In Photos

I randomly found this image wandering around online, courtesy of a wonderful French photographer Camille Vivier and fell in love with it instantly.

I'm scheming ways of recreating the above outfit as swiftly and as economically as I can. Trés chic just about sums it up.

I also recently discovered this stunning piece of photography by Ye Rin Mok. I love the way it looks as if there is a compelling story behind it, something beautiful but sad.

No Longer There

British Vogue "What's your cure for heartbreak?"

Rob Ryan (Illustrator and Author) "Heartbreak and heartache are my bread and butter... It's happiness I need a cure for."

Ophelia Ford "Write a poem. Works a treat."

I looked at you
That desert night
An empty sky
A barren time.

Where stars once teased
And moonlight lay
I searched a face
No longer there.

My silent tears
They quenched a thirst
Your mouth was dry
I filled my cup.

No passion passed
Your hunger smug
You no more craved
What I then yearned.

I prayed and wished
On fabled prose
I cried in vain
You turned away.

But in my heart
My heart of hearts
I knew no more
Nor less from you.

Perfect Philosophy

Even though Saoirse Ronan didn't take home the Best Supporting Actress Award in the end at last night's Oscars, she was a winner on the red carpet with her choice of a Philosophy di Alberta Ferreti dress.

A common mistake amongst young actresses at such award ceremonies is that they too often choose a gown that belies their youth and end up looking frumpy or overdone. Not in this case however, as the Philosophy dress was a perfect fit for the talented Irish newcomer.

Saoirse's natural beauty shone through and was complimented by the stunning emerald hue. Worn with simple sandals and minimal accessories, the gown's pretty embellishments and wonderful cut stood out.

Nominated for her role as Briony Tallis in the film version of Ian McEwan's 'Atonement', Saoirse has been placed firmly in the limelight. Currently filming a highly anticipated adaption of Alice Seybold's 'The Lovely Bones', she is more than likely here to stay.

It's Been A While

After much procrastination and many guilt trips, I'm finally back! My post-a-day was going so well and then things got a bit hectic. I had a few decisions to make in relation to university and also one too many late night snow fights on the ski trip left me in a dire state of health, as well as a random trip to Berlin, my new favorite city ever.

After getting started on my entry for the British Vogue Talent Contest 2008, I've been trying to work on my writing. Other than my dream of a career in Fashion Journalism, my main aspiration is to follow in the iconic literary footsteps of J.D. Salinger, Sylvia Plath and Truman Capote, to name but a favorite few.

To mark my first post in far too long, I thought I would put up a few pics of the DIY haircut I inflicted upon myself last night! I've never had bangs before and taking into account I was somewhat bored and used a pair of nail scissors, I think I did a pretty ok job.

Before

Nearly There

After

I was feeling a tad Daisy Lowe at the time, but we'll have to see how long it lasts until I get terribly bored with it and face the dreaded regret! At least then I might have a valid excuse for the burgeoning collection of headbands and clips I've started to hoard.

Be Right Back

It's always dangerous to neglect a fledgling project, as it's hard to get back on track once you start to slack (I'm going to have to take it easy on the cheesy rhyme before I get lynched)!

Yet I might be able to ease my 'lack of blogging guilt', what with the past few days of my week consisting of back-to-college preparations, one too many end-of-holiday nights out (with resulting hangovers) and last minute packing for an upcoming ski trip to France.

So I thought I'd pop in, before I jet off, with a picture of Ai Tominaga (one of my favorite models) in a stunning creation from Elie Saab AW07 Couture, as I'm anticipating his upcoming SS08 Couture show and the many fantasies that will come of it.

Wonderfully Waldorf

Probably the most blogged about character of the moment (after the Frankenstein that is Perez Hilton era Britney), Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf is the saving grace of television teen drama.

Blair's wardrobe choices never disappoint. With a closet full of Balenciaga blazers, Marc by Marc Jacob's minidresses, Lanvin ballet flats and Valentino gowns, how could they?

Armored in her preferred choice of preppy yet ladylike chic, she is usually seen to incorporate mismatched pinstripes and plaids, patterned tights and pretty headbands into her daily outfits.

The subtle niceties of her style don't always transcend into her persona. Blair is renowned for her sinister streak and this adds to the mystique of her character. Who doesn't love a mean girl? Especially one whose personal motto is "True friends stab you in the front."

Thanks to the guilty pleasure that is Gossip Girl, when it comes to making an effort in the morning and shopping for new treats, I'm left asking myself "What would Blair wear?"

Plastic Fantastic

Due to grey skies, sporadic downpours and all other miseries associated with bleak January weather, I've started to dream of Summer days already. I blame the current lack of sunshine for my sudden and strange craving of fun eye wear.

The above tortoise shell rectangular aviators from Screaming Mimi's remind me of an oversized pair of sunglasses donned by Whitney during the first episode of season 3 of The Hills, when she was having lunch with Lauren outside of Milk. (If anyone knows anything about said unidentified glasses, I'd be forever grateful for a tip off because I've been searching for them ever since to no avail).

These Lolita-esque frames need no explanation. They're yet another Topshop gem and beyond perfection.

I lost my pink plastic aviators at a Justice concert before Christmas, so I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to pick up Kanye's shutter glasses at Girl Props before my next rave.

Currently Coveting

I've been putting off the idea of investing in a leather jacket for a long time now, but I might have just come across a certain piece of outerwear that defies resistance.

Mike and Chris are a husband and wife design duo based in LA, who have taken their laid back yet chic aesthetic and used it to transmute simple wardrobe basics into fashion forward staples.

The above Bryant Lambskin Zip Up Hoodie from their Holiday 07 collection is irresistible. I want, but the €600 price tag means I wish.

Perfect Scents

A person's choice of fragrance can usually allow an insight into their sense of self. Strong and overpowering? Light and lingering? Sweet or mysterious? The power of perfume is phenomenal, therefore many people search for a signature scent.

My all time favorite fragrance, Silver Mountain Water by Creed, features citrus notes, tea, blackcurrant, musk and ambergris. The unusual combination of aromas, combined with the classic and luxurious packaging, allow a daily treat in the form of this opulent perfume .

No other perfume has caught my attention like Silver Mountain Water and I more than likely will be using it for many years to come. Inspired by crisp mountain air and pure alpine streams, this fresh yet intoxicating fragrance never fails to leave a lasting impression.

Some other beguiling scents worth trying out include Penhaligon's mythic Endymion, Stella McCartney's classic Stella and Diesel's suprisingly compelling Fuel For Life.
